Great value lunch set
Ambush pride themselves at serving affordable European food and there is no doubt about that. They serve a great variety of European cuisine which are nicely illustrated and described on their creatively laid out menu. My friend and I chose to have the lunch set which includes a main, a drink and a soup of the day (do ask what they have to offer if it is not stated). I ordered the paella while my friend ordered a pasta. It did not take too long to arrive due to the weekday post-lunch hours. The paella that I had was tasty and chewy! The bacon bits gave the paella a nice smoked flavor. I just found the tomatoes a little too overwhelming. The mushroom soup was nice and chunky! Portion was really big as well.
Service was exceptionally great. The manager came to us and asked how we felt about the food and if there were any improvements to be made about it. Thumbs up for such a great service! The waitresses were all smiles as well. The only thing I didn't like about the place was its open concept dining area. People who walked past could see us having our meals and I didn't really like how that felt. The place felt a little cramped with too many tables and chairs around. I would think it could get really cramped during lunch or dinner times. Overall, a place that I would recommend everyone to visit for a variety of affordable European cuisine with great service.

messy, sloppy, satisfying!
Fatboys Burger Bar is a place for all hardcore burger lovers. The burger patties here are one of the best I have tried and the portion is humongous!!!! After all, the fat boys do love their burgers big and tasty don't they? The names of the burgers are really cute and in context with the whole concept and marketing of the burger bar. There s a burger called Fat Basterd which had double beef patties, cheese, bacon, eggs.... can you imagine such a big burger!!!! Of course, I did not order that. I ordered a wimpy burger which is wimpy as compared to the grandeur of the Fat Besterd. It is a smaller burger with a smaller portion.
Burger patty was very yummy. The patty was handmade, you could tell from the irregularity burger lines and rough handiwork. Great patties should always be handmade! The patties were juicy and moist. The patty was complemented by the other ingredients in the burger. I enjoyed my burger very much! The fries were thick and just how I like it to be done. Burgers are meant to be eaten messily! So enjoy your messy and sloppy moment while devouring these burgers. Thumbs up!

Affordable quality grill
During my recent trip to Buddy Hoagies, I ordered the Steak & Cheese Hoagies Sandwich. I usually order the pepper grilled chicken which I am totally satisfied over. Chicken is tender, of reasonable portion and the peppery taste provided a nice "kick" to the chicken. I really liked the pepper chicken but was looking for a change, hence the steak sandwich! The steak sandwich was not how I expected it to be though. The steak was a little dry, but I liked the melted cheese in the sandwich! It would have been better if the steak was handled more carefully and moist. Nevertheless, it wasn't too bad. I wouldn't order this again though! I would recommend the chicken dishes over the steak dishes.
The ambience is totally relaxing and service was great! Not much crowd on a weekday night which makes it peaceful to have dinner at. There are several drink choices and the shakes looked yummy. I would be sure to try that next time! Overall, Buddy Hoagies is a place that serves affordable American food without compromising on quality or portion, it is better tasting than Astons as well.

iDon personal pie club is the place to go to when you are craving high quality pies. They honor themselves in producing drool-worthy pies and have received loads of media attention and awards for their pies. It is not hard to understand why they are so popular! Their pies are really one of the better ones I have had. On my first trip there, I was recommended their best selling pie - the chicken pie. It looked and smelled so great, I took out $18.90 for the whole pie without even bother to try it by buying a small slice. I am so glad that I bought this pie home because my family and I absolutely loved it!
The pie crust was buttery, layered and flaky. It was able to hold the pie well and not break despite it being layered and light. It wasn't the typical thick floury factory-made crust that you see outside. The filling was rich and substantial. There were potato, corn, boiled eggs, mushrooms and chicken chunks. The filling had a tasty and mild peppery taste. The whole pie came together as one. The filling and the crust. 1/4 slice of it is sufficient as a wholesome meal. The box that came with it was also of good quality, thick and will definitely protect your pie well. I would definitely be back there for another pie flavor!

Black pig
How often do you get to see black pig meat being served at Japanese restaurants? Tampopo is one of the few in Singapore to serve black pig meat. What's the difference between pork from a black pig and pork from a normal pig? Meat from a black pig tends to be more succulent, juicy and taste smoother and sweeter. Definitely worth the premium price that comes with it. I had the Black Pig Shabu Ramen and I really enjoyed this dish from the chewy meat, al dente noodles and light broth which complemented the black pig slices really well. Priced at $13.90 for a bowl, it is reasonable for such a high quality meat.
My mother who was feeling under the weather, ordered crab porridge. You might be thinking, porridge from a Japanese restaurant? Yes, they do sell porridge and the crab porridge was great! The crab meat came in chunks and there were shimeiji mushrooms in it which helped to enhance the overall flavor of the porridge. at $14 for a bowl of porridge, it is not cheap and I would recommend the black pig ramen over the porridge as they are at the same price point. You cannot miss the black pig meat over here!!!! Do try to make reservations as Tampopo is a really popular choice for Japanese food lovers. Totally enjoyed my meal here and service was great!

boring western food
Western food was and will never be a big part of my diet. If it wasn't for a gathering that I had to attend here, I probably would have never stepped foot into this place. BREEKS cafe sells Western food like burgers, pasta, fish and chips at restaurant prices. Around $14.90 - $17.90 per dish would be a safe estimate. I ordered a serving of fish and chips because I didn't felt like having pasta that day and I would prefer going to an Italian restaurant for pasta. After all, if a Western place cannot do fish and chips well, how can it call itself a Western cafe right?
The fish and chips surprised me. In a bad way. The fish was most likely frozen fish and the batter was so heavy. I like fish and chips that are light and fluffy. Definitely not this. I could walk to Holland Village market and get better fish and chips for 1/3 or 1/4 the price. This place is not only expensive, but not impressive at all. Just below average Western food at bad prices. Service was average. The store was clean and felt comfortable though, that's the saving factor of Breeks. If you are truly looking for a good place to have Western food at, I would not recommend visiting Breeks. Needless to say, I won't be coming back here again!

Not afraid to speak out
Patricia Mok is really one of Singapore's unique artiste. She is not your typical cookiec-cutter female artistes with flowy long hair, big eyes, small mouth, dainty and gentle. She's opposite of what you expect her to be! Loud mouthed, poufy hair and just a loud and obnoxious character that some might find offensive. I'm okay with her being loud and direct because it is a refreshing change from the other female artistes! She is not afraid to show her true self when hosting or during shows. Her acting, usually in variety shows, tickles me a lot!!! She goes out all the way to fulfill the role.
Ii enjoyed her shows that were mainly on Channel 8. For example, Paris & Milan. A comedy that aims to increase awareness on usual social problems and such. Her role made me look forward to watching this show every week!!! A pity it is not airing anymore otherwise I would recommend you to watch it. Her jokes and acting are so funny and enjoyable to watch. It was natural and does not look "forced" like how some artiste look like. It's a pity that she has left Mediacorp because I really enjoyed seeing her on TV.

MUTTONS!
The only reason why I listen to 987 is because of The Muttons. If you don't know who they are, no, they are not mutton meat, neither are they a pair of goat DJs. They are made up of Justin and Vernon and they are soooo funny I specially tune in just to hear them. The reason why they are so funny is because they are ridiculously good at parodies. If you are someone who gets offended easily, you probably will not enjoy their way of talking but if you are looking for a great light-hearted laugh, this is the station to tune in! They make fun of celebrities and local gossip. Sometimes directly, sometimes indirectly. Lame cold jokes are a trademark of the muttons as well.
Songs wise, I don't really fancy the songs played in 987 so after The Muttons, I usually switch the radio off or tune into another station (99.5 or 92.0). Their songs are mostly mainstream songs, teeny bopper songs (lots of taylor swift, selena gomez and the like) and songs that I don't know and don't really enjoy. That being said, music taste can be quite personal and do tune in to find out if you really like them! It's free anyway :)

Meaningful show
Renovaid is a meaningful show that provide aid in the form of sponsored renovation for families who need a healthy and safe home but could not afford to do so due to limited financial capabilities. This show focuses on a different home and family each episode and there is a story that let us viewers know about the owners of the houses. It really dawned upon me that there is so much people out there who needs our help and how fortunate I really am to be safe, happy and healthy. The renovation of the houses are sponsored and it is really a meaningful and realistic way to help out the people in our society who are in need. Rather than giving cash. The renovation is a long-term benefit.
For people who are sick of variety shows and not into sobbing love dramas, do catch Renovaid for a different kind of TV programme. It can get really touching and I found myself on the verge of tears a few times but hey, this is the type of programme that is meaningful and making good use of media to spread a positive and educational message to all Singaporean citizens out there. Kudos to the team and the positive, sensitive and articulative host for bringing us such a great TV show.

mass market apparels
I have purchased apparels from Eating Zombie twice and both times, I was disappointed at the quality of the apparels - one being a blazer, the other a dress. The quality left a lot to be desired and the clothes just did not look similar as the pictures online. It was not how I expected it to be and for that reason, I do not purchase anything from their web store anymore. Eating Zombie brings in clothes that many other blog shops do. What you can find here is not anything terribly unique and are usually trends that would die soon, for example the fake collar trend, sheer tops and whatnot. If you are a trend follower, I would think that this blogshop is suitable for you, only if you don't mind having the same top, dress and skirt as another girl because the chance of that happening is really high!
Anyway, back to the quality of the clothes. As they are not manufactured by them, the quality control probably wasn't stringent as well. The cutting was not right and the material felt itchy when worn. The proportion of the dress I bought wasn't flattering at all. It looked okay on the model so it's probably just my body shape and size. But the lack of good quality and itchy material was something that could have been checked and avoided. Their prices are akin to most blogshops, ranging from $20-$30 and some "premium pieces" over $30. Won't buy clothes from Eating Zombie anymore but I do know of people who really like their stuff so do check it out for yourself :)
