A place holding memories of the young and old

One of the oldest chinese temples you would find in Singapore, the Thian Hock Keng temple is a place full of historical value and memories of people who once came here in the past.

As a child, i enjoy visiting the temple frequently with my grandmother on her regular trips. In the many fragments of my memories there, i remember the temple as a very interesting place. There are many chinese scriptures and drawings/pictures on the walls, or calligraphy and paintings being hung on the wall, with each a story to tell. My grandmother would explain each of them to me, as the stories revolved around filial piety or decisions made by wise men and more.
The most fascinating segment of the trip was how i was attracted strongly to the mythical creatures craved on the walls and signboards or huge pillars and ceilings. They consists of legendary creatures such as the dragon, phoenix, birds and others such as animals, floral and clouds. The exquisite cravings were already present in the beginning, when the temple was first build!

Considered a historical monument as of the present, the temple is not only a symbolic representation of the Hokkien chinese communities devotion to their gods. It is also a place holding memories for those who have been there and for those who have yet to visit the temple.

Best mall you can get in the neighbourhood

I just love this mall with its many restaurants and shops that sells clothings and accessories. Being a new mall, Clementi Mall is indeed pretty good at capturing the hearts of shoppers, with its plentiful array of shopping opportunities for the young and the old. It has everything we all need, from daily necessities and groceries at the NTUC in the basement, to stationeries and school supplies at Popular.

The one thing, out of the many, that i love in this mall would be Seoul Garden and Cotton On. These two are the common hangouts for my friends and I, to have a meal and shop around in the mall. The best part is, we all love Long John Silvers at the basement of the mall, along with Burger King, Subway and more as the staff there are really friendly.

Having such a wonderful mall that has everything there is to offer to its shoppers is just plain AWESOME!

Never ending shopping spree!

The shops in IMM is never ending and the shopping mall itself is just huge! Looking left and right when you enter the mall, you would not know where to begin! There are many variety of shops and restaurants in the mall for you to choose from. In addition, well-known giant DIASO, NTUC EXTRA and more are in the mall, making it a popular attraction for the mall.

A complementary segment of the mall would be, there are comfortable coaches to fetch you from various MRT stations to the IMM mall! There is one from Boon Lay mrt, and there used to be one from Jurong and Clementi. Sadly there isn't any from the two, as if there were, more crowds would be able to get there with ease!

My overall shopping experience in the mall is rather great, as i always manage to go home satisfied with my spree over there. the shops there have all that i need, for fashion, health and beauty, food and more! I would love to go back once more, especially after it many changes and renovation.

i love the coaches!

On my trip to Kuala Lumpur, my family and i book tickets through the Five Stars Tour for coaches. On that day, we were sitting on double decker coaches and the seats were really big and comfy, like those on the planes, with a wide space for enough leg area to strech!

The best part is, you will never get bored on the long coach journey to your destination as there are mini television screens at the front of your seat for you to watch! In addition, the television also consists of games to play with the remote and it is quite entertaining, especially after the battery of your phone or PSP ran out!

The bus ride was smooth overall and the bus drivers were helpful and very humourous at times. My family and I would definitly go back to this travel agency to try out its cruises packages and more, as we know we would be served by the ever friendly and helpful staff at the counter.

Great service attitude

Challenger seems to be the only large scaled store that sells only electronics. Facing intense competiton in its field, the store is still going strong and attracting customers with more discounts and loyalty points for members.

Something worth mentioning about the store would be its staff. The staff there are really helpful, as when i was tring to purchase a desktop screen and requested for many testings, the staff did it all without complains for 6 times. I was really guilty about it for making him take in and putting back the desktop screen (which is not very light) after the many tests but he just smiled and said it was ok. This is really commendable and i hope that such a service attitude would continue on in Challenger, making loyal customers return back willingly to purchase its products.

Unique and creative

The unique designs and creative wordings on the products from The Wallet Shop is always very attractive and up-for-grabs! Every time there is a new design, i would get all excited and considering changing my current bag or wallet for one of theirs. The most attractive part of the products would be that, they have their own style unlike any other you would be able to find.

However, i feel that the new designs are coming in too late as i keep seeing the same designs for quite a while on the racks for about 2 years already. To keep up in a competitive market, and with even more competitive sellers who also seem to be able to come up with products of seemingly similar style, The Wallet Shop would need to work on its launch on new products soon.

As for value, the wallets and bags of the shop is not only unique in its designs, but also rather durable with proper use. It is indeed value for money, and the price is of any acceptable range for a student. They come in many colors, but mostly in Black, White or Brown, which is practical as it goes well with any kind of clothing colors.

School supplies are ever ready!

Every time when i need a pencil, or pen or maybe even a CD, the Popular bookstore never fails to cross my mind. For every student, regardless of which education level you may be currently still studying in (primary, secondary, tietary and beyond), you would be been to Popular at least once!

This bookstore is well-known for being a bookstore that do not only sells books (textbooks, novels etc.) and stationeries, but also IT gadget accessories, gifts, and music CD. It is a place where i can get all of my necessary school supplies with ease, as it is always conviniently located in a local mall. The layout of the store is also very organised and catergorised, thus ensuring that you would be able to locate what you need in a few minutes. In addition, the staffs there are also pretty helpful when you need help to find something you need, or when you have difficulty in getting your product.

Away from the Crowds

Bukit Batok Park is the best park for a great family activity! With its spacious park space and out areas, i had a great time flying my kites with my family over there. It is rather difficult to find open spaces (other than marina barrage's open space, which is always over crowded on weekends) in Singapore for Kite Flyers, without having our kites stuck in a tree or there is just too many fellow kite flying enthusiatics around, thus Bukit Batok Park is great!

To me, nothing beats a picnic with your family in the park to spend some quality time together (it beats watching television)! To enjoy doing so, you will need a spacious and quiet space to get rid of the city's noise and some time away from the crowds. Thankfully, Bukit Batok Park offers such a pleasure for my family and I. So for those looking for a little peaceful time with your love ones, and does not crave for much attention from crowds and noise, you should take time to visit this Park which has much to offer!

An adventure day out

The fort canning park is a place for adventures and exploration, a great place for those who love to run around the historical site and learn more about the history of Singapore. The area is huge, and has a great secenic view with many greenery, just like a park. However, unlike any other parks, the fort canning park has a war battle history to it.

In the quiet and peaceful park, you get to enjoy tranquility which could not be easily found elsewhere in a city. The park also has attractions and many worth of a photo, such as a visit to the battle box (a mini museum where the history of fort canning park and the battle that occured here decades ago) and a few british cannons used many decades ago during the battle to defend Sinagpore. The Battle Box itself was also a hiding place for the soldiers that fought the battle decades ago, which was discovered any years later. It can be visited for a minimal fee, and it is very interactive with wax figurines that mimick the situation during the battle period.

It is a great place for a day of adventure with a group of mates!

Interesting journey

The Har Par Villa used to be my mini playground of interesting stories when i was young, and i had regular visits there with my parents. They would tell me stories of the place and of each setting. There are different segments in the Villa where they speak of different stories of sad endings of bad doers, and good endings of good doers, or stories that imparts morals.

The best part of the attraction in my opinion would be the the setting where, there are different levels of punishments at Hell. The chinese believed that should they commit a sin and not repent, they would be sent to hell by the door gods, and be punished. Each punishment would be more and more severe with the increase of the different levels (there should be 8 levels i think). It is advisable that the parents should accompany the young children into this attraction and explain to them the things they are seeing, because their are instances where the children might be frightened by the graphics if without proper guidance. Still, these attraction would serve as a reminder to all to consider their actions before executing it, as though you may not pay the price for your wrong-doing now, that doesn't mean you do not have to in your after-life for an eternity.

The Haw Par Villa is indeed a great place to visit as a family, as it is educational, and a great opportunity for the parents to impart moral values in the children!
