September Fever
The National Day celebrations are barely over but you can get into the Singapore spirit once again when election fever hits full swing this month. Regardless of which constituency you are in, you won’t be spared from the endless flooding of rally pictures or election articles circulating on Facebook. 1. Watch Jurassic World under the stars
If there’s one thing Singapore is lacking, it’s a drive-in cinema. Fortunately, as part of the Outdoor Carnival Getaway @ White Sands, East-siders can watch drive-in movies like Jurassic World and X-Men: Days of Future Past at the fields next to White Sands.
Bargain hunters, if you need another reason to drop by, there’s a car boot sale and flea market selling pre-loved items during the day that you wouldn’t want to miss.

2. Upgrade your gadgets at Comex 2015
Start off your September with an electronic gadget reboot at Comex 2015, the biggest IT exhibition of the year.You can trade in your old/faulty gadgets, consoles and starting from Comex 2015, even PCs and monitors for cash vouchers to spend at the show. 3. Take part in the election fever
With General Elections just around the corner, all eyes are fixed on the new potential candidates from the various parties and what they will bring to the table. If you’re born in the early 90s like I am, you’ll be able to vote for the very first time this year. Hurray! Be an informed voter – make time to listen to their rallies before heading for the ballot box on September 11.

4. Have a yogi’s day out
If you are hooked onto yoga like me, this one is for you. Pack your mats and head down to Tanjong Beach at Sentosa for a full day of yoga (duh!), meditation, dance, and fitness at SOULSCAPE.
Start your day right by participating in Amber Sawyer’s sound meditation workshop before heading to Cristi Christensen’s soulfire flow workshop. Have a go at any of the 20 workshops offered throughout the day and just before sunset, gather with your fellow yogis to flow with Saumik Bera, Cristi Christensen. If you’re not tired yet, you can then dance the night away with DJ Doopz at the SoulVibes Music Festival.

5. Geek Out at STGCC
Naked is not a costume, say the organizers of the Singapore Toy, Game and Comic Convention. For all avid cosplayers, this is one event you don’t want to miss. Whether you’re there to watch light saber fights or participate in the STGCC Championships of Cosplay and Kids Cosplay Parade, there’s so much to do, so little time!

6. Go on a 12 meter tall inflatable slide!
Unleash your inner kid at Sentosa FunFest 2015, a Mega Inflatable Beach Festival held at Siloso beach. The beachfront party is expected to have DJs spinning the latest tracks, a spread of beach friendly food and various photo points to perfect that selfie.
Be sure to catch the highlight of the beach festival – a 12 meter tall inflatable slide that is almost four storeys high! The adrenaline-pumping slide has three separate channels, so you and your two best friends can compete to see who reaches the bottom first.

When it comes to thrifting, patience is key so set aside a couple of hours to thoroughly go through every nook and cranny in the shop. 8. Learn how to play the guitar or ukelele

Have time to spare on a Friday night but nowhere to go? Head down to Red Dot Design Museum and go MAAD shopping! The Market of Artists And Designers (MAAD), held every one Friday of the month, is a platform for local designers to sell their works.
In conjunction with September’s edition MAAD Pyjamas, Yelp Singapore is turning three and they are throwing a party at Red Dot Design Museum. Enjoy complimentary food and drinks from local businesses such as Pong Gelato, On the Table and The Burger Bar.
Alternatively, pay $25 to have your portrait drawn by various illustrators from Organisation of Illustrators Council at #PortraitsAfterDark, and you get the choice of picking two of your favourite portraits to take home. 3. 2015 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix
Race fever is back, hotter than ever. Yes, the annual 2015 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines SIngapore Grand Prix is happening this month. Catch live performances by Bon Jovi, Maroon 5 and Pharrell WIlliams alongside local band, The Sam Willows and Swedish pop rock band, Dirty Loops.

4. Singaporelang: What the Singlish?
Singlish is what makes Singaporeans unique and it’s intriguing to foreigners. Singaporean photographer Zinkie Aw presents a series of photographs that viewers can attempt to ‘guess the Singlish’, give meaning to the picture, and in turn, create a visual Singlish dictionary. Maybe this will help foreigners get past the usual “lah, lor, leh” and make their Singlish more powderful.

5. Special September holiday programme at Dreamworks Animation: The Exhibition
Spend your September holidays at the ArtScience Museum with your favourite childhood DreamWorks cartoon characters like Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon and Madagascar. Happening only during the September holidays, the young and the young at heart can take part in various activities like picking up ‘dumplings’ using a pair of giant chopsticks. 6. Winpurpurla
That’s the name Imelda Yukenbarri Gugaman calls “home”, and is also the title of her first solo exhibition taking place in Singapore. The Western Australian artist is best known for her pointillism style – a painting technique that uses tiny dots to form an image like the one above. Imagine three dimensional looking topographical maps that showcase the landscape of indigenous Australia – all constructed out of dots!

7. The Diverse-City Trails
Take a walk down memory lane with The Thought Collective and Ben & Jerry’s through iconic neighbourhoods like Little India, Jalan Besar and Toa Payoh. These Diverse-City trails help to educate the public on current national issues all while having Ben & Jerry’s specially launched ice cream called Nice Kacang! It’s been ongoing since March and will end in September. Limited spaces are available so sign up before it’s too late.

8. Globe to Globe Hamlet
Shakespeare Globe, one of the best theatre production companies in the world, is bringing the theatrical adventure of Hamlet to Singapore as part of its two-year global tour. Titled Globe to Globe Hamlet, the Shakespearean play tells of a tragic story where a young Danish prince is driven to avenge his father’s murder. The play is set to be the first international production to grace the stage of the Capitol Theatre, more fondly known to Singaporeans as the Grande Dame.

9. The Imperial Ice Stars Sleeping Beauty on Ice
Catch your favourite Disney Princess on Ice this September! For three days only, The Sleeping Beauty on Ice performed by the Imperial Ice Stars will be set to dazzle the crowd with their heart stopping stunts. Set to the music of Tchaikovsky, expect to see high speed lifts, throws, as well as aerial gymnastics and fire effects executed flawlessly by the 18-strong cast of Olympic, World, European and National Championship level skaters.

10. Hello Goodbye
Not to be confused with the Beatles song, this 90-minute comedy had a sell out run at the Hampstead Theatre in London and is the hottest romantic comedy in Singapore. Unwind after a day’s work with a good laugh presented by Singapore Repertory Theatre. The rom-com unfolds when Juliet arrives at her apartment thinking she’s renting it alone but Alex claims the apartment is his. The play stars Shane Mardjuki (Shakespeare at the Park – Twelfth Night, Unlucky Plaza) and Denise Tan (Dim Sum Dollies and Class 90.5FM).
